In 1673, John Fuller (my 9^th great-grandfather) married Abigail Titus in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.  Imagine my surprise when I discovered that my Fuller ancestors and Carpenter ancestors "collide" at this point.  Abigail Titus' parents were John Titus, Jr. and Rachel.  After Rachel died, John married Abigail Carpenter whose father was William Carpenter, my 11th great-grandfather on my Carpenter side.  Abigail's twin brother, Abiah, is my 9th great-grandfather on my Carpenter side.

You never know what you are going to find when researching your family tree!

NOTES FOR GENERATION NO. 7 & 8:

There are two Robert Fuller's who lived in Massachusetts around the same time and I have seen Jonathan Fuller (b. 1643) listed as the son for both of these men.  Perhaps both Robert's had sons named Jonathan born in the same year, I'm really not sure, but if only one had a son named Jonathan, I don't know which Robert it would have been.  I have listed Jonathan as a son of Robert Fuller of Bristol County, Massachusetts because Jonathan is shown as being born in Essex County and Robert did live in Essex County for a time; the other Robert is shown as living in Norfolk County.

I also have seen two different death dates for Robert, one in 1688 and the other in 1706.  Again, I think this is a result of two Robert's living around the same time.  Most seem to agree that my Robert died in 1706.  That being the case, I doubt he was born in 1615 as that would have made him 91 yrs. old when he died.  It was unusual for a man to live that long in the 1600's.  Robert's father was Thomas who was born in 1605/6. If Robert was born in 1615 then Thomas would have been 10 yrs. old when he fathered his son!  I'm changing the birth year of Robert to 1625 until some of this mystery can be resolved.

JONATHAN FULLER (ROBERT FULLER⁸) was born June 15, 1643 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts and died February 10, 1708 in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts.  He married ELIZABETH WILMARTH, December 14, 1664 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, daughter of THOMAS WILMARTH and ELIZABETH BLISS.  She was born February 4, 1647 in Braintree, Bristol County, Massachusetts and died October 4, 1690.

John Fuller was a wheelwright by trade.  He is called "Deacon" in some of the records, which distinguishes him from his cousin John, son of Benjamin Fuller who lived in Rehoboth.  He acquired a considerable amount of land in Attleboro during his lifetime, but by deed of October 4, 1704, sold the 50 acres his grandfather, Robert, had given him.

ABIAL FULLER (JOHN FULLER⁹) was born December 30, 1676, and died April 20, 1720 in Plymouth County, Massachusetts.  He married ANNIS PARKER February 19, 1701/02.  She was born in Sandwich, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.

DAVID FULLER (JONATHAN FULLER⁹) was born September 11, 1667 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts and died April 12, 1750 in Coventry, Tolland County, Connecticut.  He married (1) MARY ORMSBY, July 15, 1691 in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, daughter of JACOB ORMSBY and MARY PERRIN.  She was born November 21, 1672 and died about 1720.  He married (2) CONSTANCE about 1720/21.  She died January 18, 1759 in Coventry,  Tolland County, Connecticut.

NOAH FULLER (JONATHAN FULLER⁹) was born February 12, 1683 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts and died January 12, 1715 in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts.  He married RACHEL PIDGE, February 21, 1713 in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts, daughter of JOHN PIDGE and ELIZABETH NEWCOMB.  She was born 1689 in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts and died January 11, 1733 in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

Nathan and his wife, Chloe, are buried in the Covered Bridge Cemetery in Colchester, New York.

There is a bit of a mystery regarding Nathan's children.  On the 1800 census, he only has 3 children, 1 son and 2 daughters, Thomas W., Rachel, and Phebe.  On the 1810 census, there are 10 people living in the household; of those 10, 2 can't be accounted for - 1 male between 10-15 yrs. and 1 male under 10 yrs.  On the 1820 census, nothing fits, and in 1830 there are 3 daughters still living at home: Phebe, Loretta and Chloe, as well as an unknown male between 10 - 15 yrs.  In 1840 Chloe is still at home with her parents as well as an unknown female between 15 - 20 yrs.  I don't know for a fact how many children Nathan had but I do have the names of his children that he mentioned in his will.  He mentions his son's first, oldest to youngest, and Ira isn't mentioned.  He does mention a Lorimer Fuller and I can find no record anywhere on Lorimer Fuller.  Is it possible that Ira and Lorimer are the same person?  Or possibly Ira isn't Nathan's son and Lorimer dies before 1850 leaving no family, thus no records.  If anyone has definitive proof that Ira is Nathan's son, please let me know.  I will leave him listed here on the assumption that Lorimer and Ira are the same person.

Nathan had daughters Rachel, Phebe, Loretta and Chloe and apparently Chloe had some physical or mental disorder that necessitated her being cared for by others as Nathan goes to great lengths in his will to ensure her care after he died.  In 1850 and 1860, Chloe is living with her brother, Thomas W. Fuller in Delaware County; in 1870 she is living with another brother, John D. Fuller, and in 1880, she is living with her niece, Juliette Shaver, in Sullivan County, New York.  Chloe is buried in Colchester, Delaware County, New York so she must have been living in Delaware County at the time of her death but with whom, I don't know.

JOHN FULLER (JOHN FULLER¹²) was born August 15, 1793 in Shaftsbury, Bennington County, Vermont and died January 23, 1878 in Merton, Waukesha County, Wisconsin.  He married ELIZABETH (BETSY) CLARK December 1816 in Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont, daughter of JAMES CLARK and ELIZABETH WRIGHT.  She was born May 24, 1798 in Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont and died February 24, 1876 in Merton, Waukesha County, Wisconsin.

According to the 1900 census for Colchester, Delaware County, New York, JAMES and LOTTIE were the parents of five children with all five still living in 1900.  I've not been able to discover the name of the fifth child.  This child isn't listed on the 1900 census which leads me to believe that he/she was born between 1881-1884, otherwise the child would still be living with his/her parents in 1900.  Being born between 1881 - 1884 would make this Fuller between 16 - 19 years old in 1900.  In that age range, a boy could be working outside the home or a girl could possibly be married.  There is a thirteen year gap between Arthur (1867) and Lula (1880) and I considered that the child could be born during this time; however, I couldn't find any mention of this mystery child on the 1870 or 1880 census.  Therefore, I will stick with my original assumption that this child was born between 1881 - 1884.

RACHEL FULLER (THOMAS W. FULLER¹⁴) was born 1835 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York and died unknown.  She married JAMES RUSSELL.  He was born 1830 in New York and died unknown.

ORLANDO D. FULLER (THOMAS W. FULLER¹⁴) was born 1838 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York and died unknown.  He married CLARINDA.  She was born 1841 in New York and died unknown.

CHLOE ANN FULLER (RANSOM FULLER¹⁴) was born 1838 and died November 15, 1891 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York.  She married M. BASSETT WILLIAMS.  He was born in Colchester, Delaware County, New York and died August, 1893 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York.

WILLIAM FULLER (HIRAM FULLER¹⁴) was born December 10, 1833 in Downsville, Delaware County, New York and died August 9, 1914 in Walton, Delaware County, New York.  He married ADELIA FRANCE, May 15, 1856.  She was born February 17, 1842 in Walton, Delaware County, New York.

ANDREW FULLER (HIRAM FULLER¹⁴) was born 1836 and died unknown.  He married MARY A.  She was born 1839 and died unknown.

JARVIS AUGUSTUS FULLER (HIRAM FULLER¹⁴) was born May, 1842 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York and died 1904 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York.  He married LOVISA CORNWALL.  She was born 1839.

PHEBE CATHARINE GREGORY (ANN ELIZA FULLER¹⁵) was born December 20, 1839 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York, and died February 28, 1915 in Garden Valley, Wisconsin.  She married TRUMAN RHEAD October 12, 1856 in Wayne County, Michigan, son of ADEN RHEAD and EXPERIENCE.  He was born March 26, 1832 in New York, and died October 30, 1899 in Garden Valley, Jackson County, Wisconsin.

JAMES W. FULLER (NATHAN H. FULLER¹⁵) was born January 1845 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York and died January 2, 1925.  He married AUGUSTA TIFFANY June 19, 1867 in Downsville, Delaware County, New York.  She was born July 1851 in New York and died unknown.

Notes for AUGUSTA TIFFANY

According to the 1900 census, AUGUSTA had 4 children with 2 still living in 1900.  Yet, the 1910 census shows AUGUSTA had 6 children with 5 still living in 1910.  I believe the 1900 census shows the accurate information because I have found 3 children belonging to AUGUSTA and probably the other child died very young between census years so I don't have his/her name.  JANE dies young and I know JENNIE and FREDERICK survive.

RACHEL FULLER (NATHAN H. FULLER¹⁵) was born December 1853 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York and died unknown.  She married JOSEPH M. FULLER, 1878 in Delaware County, New York.  He was born 1856 in New York and died unknown.

HENRIETTA FULLER (WILLIAM FULLER¹⁵) was born 1858 in Colchester, Delaware County, New York and died unknown.  She married EDWARD C. ELMORE.
